My First 10km ( Run For Hope 2012 )

Run For Hope is a non competitive run for cancer research.. also means Charity... Finally the day came.. 18 Nov 2012.. Which is the first run my sis & I take part in.. =) We just wanna give it a try & also to do something for cancer research...

We meet up at 5.15am for mac at Serangoon central.. Then after breakfast we took a cab to " The Padang "... We rest for a while then start doing warm up.. before the run start.. Everybody is getting so excited... I can feel the positive energy there.. The morning weather was great..











The run start off at 7.15am... Everyone ran! =) I'm trying very hard not to catch up with all those who is faster than me.. Because I don't wanna lose my energy so fast... I told Sis to go ahead if she needed to.. No point waiting for each other.. But of course she is my motivation to move forward... =D





 
In between 6km onwards my body had struggle a little... my body is feeling sore.. But i keep going.. till I see 8km.. I started to ran a little more faster... My sis reached the finish point first.. & she is waiting for me.. When I see the finishing point.. I faster put all my energy to reach the last finishing point! I feel great.. I know my timing is a little slow.. My time is ( 1hr 46 mins ) But is a achievement for me..

I had learn something new after the run.. I learned that " Is not about the timing in the run & winning others.. Is about winning myself, my mind & my body " I feel really great after the run.. Because it given me the confident & the courage to challenge myself.. & I believe I can do it.. & I really did..







 I wanna Thanks My supportive husband who is giving me his mentally support at home because he needed to take care of our son.. & I wanna thank Sis.. for believing me that I can do it.. Have faith in me.. & be my marathon Buddy.. Because of running our relationship has been really good..

Training 4

Yesterday was the alternate training night again.. It was super cooling.. a little wet due to the rain at 8plus pm.. I head out a bit later because I need to put Benson to sleep.... So i went out at about 10.45pm.. I had second thoughts about going to the park as it was super quiet.. Maybe due to the earlier rain so everyone is staying home.. Then decided to jog on the walking path beside the road.. At least if i needed help someone will be able to spot me.. Haha.. Well.. am i thinking too much? Guess not.. Because we will never know what will happen.. right? I realize when i jog at night.. My body is giving me a hard time to warm up & get my legs moving.. I will feel some discomfort on my gastric.. after a while my body warm up.. I don't feel it anymore.. Strange huh?


I jog for 1 hrs non stop.. Unless on slippery path or traffic lights... I manage to jog 7.7km in 1hr.. which is my best so far.. =) There is improvement.. But kinda disappointed because I was expecting more.. My target was 10km.. But anyway there is still chance.. =)


 

Was super hungry once I'm back home.. After shower.. I feel more hungry.. =.= then I remember Sister given me a pack of Mushroom soup.. =) It tasted ok.. I went to bed with a warm tummy... =)

Training 3

First time running at night... Been years since i last ran at night.. Not used to the cool wind blowing onto my skin after I sweat.. Feel like my engine cannot start.. LOL.. But still i manage to ran about 7km only stop 2 x for water.. Another 1.4km.. I started walking.. Because I start feeling ache on my thigh muscle.. When home took a shower.. Expecting to have a really good sleep.. But =.= my cough woke me up again... I woke up at 6am the next morning & Ben was super shock when i text him.. haha.. So today is the alternate days again.. Gonna have to ran tonight.. The rain has just ended.. Hopefully tonight won't be raining again & Hopefully It will be a clear sky.. =) wish me luck!



The next morning.. My muscle is super ache.. Can't even wake up quickly.. Haha..

Training Day 2





Today is my second day of training for long run.. I'm doing my train alternate days now instead of daily basics because I want my muscle to heal.. & I always believe over push ur body limit will affect the performance for the next workout or training.. & Of course I don't wanna hurt my muscle.. =) Today weather is super hot.. I planned my target for today is 6km.. As the last is 5.3km.. So today i push myself a little.. But was disappointed because I didn't realise I was not well prepared.. meaning I didn't bring extra bottle of water & after 3km without water.. My body started to struggle for water.. Due to the super hot weather today.. My body is losing water by sweating in a very fast rate.. I can feel the dehydration.. Because i just feel that my body is sucking on whatever they can inside my body just to hydrate the loss of water.. & I didn't had a cap with me.. Just my iphone for music, a towel.. That's all.. & to prevent myself from further dehydration under the sun... I start to use my towel to cover my head while I jog back to where I started.. & Today happening did make me learned my lesson..

Lesson learned :

1 : If you are planning to have a long run under the hot sun.. try to prepared at least a small bottle of water.. just in case u experiencing dehydration like what I did today..

2: Try to wear a cap under the sun.. Because the sun really burn my body inside out beginning from my head.. Is super duper hot!

I hit my 6km target today...

I went to bought a cap today while shopping with my hub & boy =) Finally!
& also try my very first protein shake after my run.. But I felt very uncomfortable on my tummy.. Just like something stuck there & I feel sick on my gastric.. Which my Sister felt the same... So I gonna give up on the protein shake..

Sunday will be another training day after Family day... It will be my first night jog around my place.. I will not be going to the park because it can be dangerous... =) Safety always come first..

Training

Today finally back on track.. Been super sick last 2 weeks.. had been down with bad flu bug.. Now I'm recover about 95%.. Just that i'm still having night cough..


Goal for this month is to train my run to at least 8km.. Because Sis & I is joining " Run For Hope " .. Is sort of Charity run.. & for Cancer research... This will Consider a good start for both of us.. We opt for a 10km Run... I have the confident & really hoping that I will be able to get to the finish line.. As u know most of my record max is only 5.2km... So I'm trying to make 8km my goal... there is a chance I will finish this run.. =)

Thanks to the weather today! Think my prayers have been heard.. haha.. The weather is super hot.. A little too hot i guess.. I feel kinda burn out.. & I'm happy that finally I reached Serangoon connector.. ^^ I feel so good, so great.. Thighs is a bit painful.. So tmr will be a recovery day for my muscle.. Today total I ran 5.2km.. which is quite good result because I have stopped for 2.5 weeks..

Fitness Journal #7

Yesterday finally I'm back on my running tracks! Been a super lazy lazy bum last 2 week.. First week is due to Genting trip.. Another week is because i just feel so unmotivated.. Tired.. Shag..

Yesterday I only manage to run 3km.. Which is a good start.. Because I needed to slowly build up my stamina again.. Did Body Rock just now too.. Feels great!! Feel active again.. Hope that tomorrow weather will be great =D My lunch is dry noodle.. Dinner is sweet sour pork & winter melon soup.. Yums! & I tried drinking " Rose Milk Tea " that sis bought for me in the afternoon.. Hmm tasted ok ok.. Still can accept the taste.. Night I took a detox orange drink.. The effect is good! I don't feel any tummy pain at all.. Just have a feeling of wanting to do toliet.. Which is great , because I hate tummy ache!

I wish i can do better.. =)


Ytd tried this in the afternoon.. Tasted ok.. With a tint of Rose taste & smell..

Today jogging result is not so good.. Only 2.4km.. Because out of sudden i feel a little giddy.. So I start to jog back.. I really hope my stamina will be back to normal soon.. =) Jia You!

I Seriously need to maintain my eyebrow.. It look so -_-" ... I didn't return to the salon at Punggol Plaza is because.. The lady shave more of the eyebrow instead of pucking.. So I better don't go back & waste my $10! I still love the one at City Square mall... Is threading.. It stays longer & it look alot nicer.. ! & What best.. Is just $7! Will hope to go back there soon.. I hope that there is a permanent one & have a neat & nice eyebrow forever..!

Seriously I needed some eyebrow shaping! Got permanent one a not?

Been super tired & Busy after my Genting trip with my family.. =) & also because of the new member of the family.. So I m taking a break for this week... Running shall start next week monday.... My body have been feeling weak lately.. Maybe just now feeling well.. Hopefully my body will be back to normal soon.. Wish me luck..

Fitness Journal #6


My secret?

Alot of friends is asking on how i did it.. I don't mean I'm super slim... But I'm looking alot better now... Actually there really isn't any shortcut at all.. My only advise is eat more healthy, do lots of exercise.. Drink lots of water.. Just like me.. On Weekday will always be my workout day & healthy food day.. Weekend will be my relaxing day.. U can always give urself a treat.. But not 3 meals in a day.. Try not to have any supper.. But If! I'm super hungry.. I will boil campbell soup.. Always remember.. Diet doesn't mean DON'T Eat... It means choose ur food wisely... I don't believe that if I stop eating i will be slim... Our body doesn't work this way.. Even car will also need fuel.. Losing weight is about hard work & determination.. U must set a goal for yourself.. & of course not those impossible time frame..Be fair to urself & ur body..






What to eat, or should I eat anything before workout?

What I always do before my jog is I will always take my shake..  Don't get me wrong.. I'm not a sale person for herbal life.. I would suggest don't go workout with a super empty tummy.. Because the body won't perform well.. Trust me.. U can choose either a bread, crackers, or even low fat milk ( Milk will be my choice..) =)

always remember to set a goal on urself.. & most importantly.. Must have a positive mind set... Believe & trust that you can do it.. Never ever lose ur confident even you know people will look & judge you in any way in gym or park.. Because I used to mind that alot.. " People might think heavy people like me cannot run " ... But I can tell u they are wrong! I don't have to tell anyone about my ability.. I only need to prove to myself.. =)  When I feel muscle sore, I always keep jogging.. Because I know what I'm doing will pay off one day.. But always remember to listen to ur body.. If  you start to have difficulty in breathing or feel dizzy.. Do stop ur workout..! Don't risk ur life for it.. Try again next time.. There is always tomorrow...


 
 


My progress

My progress has been slowing down.. But I'm not dis hearted.. Because I know if I carry on doing the right thing.. One day I will get there.. Just matter of time.. I'm still doing Body Rock everyday.. & My tummy seem alot better & more firmer.. Which is a very good result... I will still do it everyday.. ^^

Fitness Journal #5

This week Monday & Tuesday.. I was quite disappointed.. Because I feel that I didn't have the stamina.. Reason might be due to drinking wine last weekend straight 2 days because I needed to attend dinner... more or less I guess it does affect..



Yesterday was rest day because needed to go Florence house for playdate & collect clothes from her.. =) so giving myself a break..


But today as usual.. I went jogging again.. But was happy with the result because my body seem to be normal again.. ^^ But guess what.. My runner record has error half way! & it didn't record anything after 6mins! Argh.. But anyway.. I'm still happy.. ^^

Fitness Journal #4

Today I took my shake first thing in the morning instead of taking my coffee with NO sugar.. As compared.. I feel i have more energy after taking shake than coffee before jog.. Maybe because coffee dehydrate my body more so my body cannot perform the best..



Kept telling myself to try 5km jog today.. Finally I reached about Damai.. I need to run back.. I felt so much pain.. Haha.. Really no joke.. But keep dragging myself back in time to pick Benson up after school.. I used about 55mins in total.. which is the longest run I had thru out my journey.. After jog.. I drank 500ml of plain water.. Rest a little.. Took Starfruit juice... =) I just feel that the pain & effort is all worth it..










I had also stopped weighting myself.. Because I feel that is no point comparing weight & bother about how much weight i have lost.. As long as i see changes in my body.. I'm happy with it.. ^^ & I do see the changes..



After Doing " Body Rock " that I have intro to you guys.. I have been doing it daily.. Sometime 2 times a day.. One is after my jog when i get home.. Another set will be evening or night before I go bed.. & trust me.. I see wonders.. After doing all those workout.. My tummy is more firm.. Arm is more toned up.. & butt & thigh looks alot better... =) Remember to keep doing daily because toning must not stop... If not it will be wasted.. =)
